When social media makes everyone else’s life look better

A practical reset for comparison spirals, doomscrolling, and the feeling that you are behind.

Keep this in mindYou are comparing your full life to other people’s selected moments. That comparison cannot be fair.

If this feels bigger than it should, that does not mean you are doing it wrong. Most hard things become more manageable when you stop trying to solve every part at once.

A simple plan

  1. Notice which accounts leave you feeling smaller, tense, or suddenly dissatisfied.
  2. Mute or unfollow three accounts for one week and move the app off your home screen.
  3. Replace ten minutes of scrolling with something that puts you back in your own life.

Make the next step smaller

Choose the easiest action on this page and give it ten minutes. You can stop, adjust, or ask someone to join you after that. Small progress still counts, especially on a hard day.
